POST 1

Welcome, everyone!! This is going to be a fun class and an important one! We get questions over and over about how to safely use oils on the kiddos. So, this will hopefully be a starting point to get you feeling educated and empowered to start oiling up those kids!

Getting back to school can create a bit of chaos in your home and a lot of emotions. We want to help you and your little ones get prepared and oil ready!!

School, especially the start of school, can be a time where our kids are not feeling confident. New things, new people, new routine, etc. all tend to make some children a little wary in some situations. Let’s support them!!!

Add for a FB CLASS:
The posts will be numbered, so if you’re coming in late, scroll through and you can read them in order or read the ones showing up first! Also, keep refreshing your page to see the latest posts! Either way is great!! Feel free to save these images to your computer to keep as a reference for later!!

POST 2

-Disclaimer-

Before we start, I want to be sure and start with the FDA disclaimer!

This is a class all for School-Aged kiddos!

POST 3

We are going to dive in with the “How To”! There are three main ways to use essential oils:
1. Topically: When oils are applied to the skin, they can be found in every single cell of your body within twenty minutes. They act quickly and powerfully. Your skin is an organ, and applying oils to the skin allows for your body to absorb them and take them in. So how do you do that? When beginning topical use, it can be wise to start slowly on the bottoms of the feet and gradually test on other areas for sensitivity. Oils like Peppermint, Thieves and Oregano tend to be a bit spicier and may need to be diluted with a carrier oil if used anywhere other than the feet. If redness occurs, it’s just more circulation coming to the surface of the skin. If it is uncomfortable, just add a little carrier oil to slow down the absorption rate of the oil into the body. The feet and chest and back of the neck are the most common places we use oils on kids!

Mama Tips for Topical Application:

+Be aware of “Hot” oils such as Peppermint, PanAway, Thieves and Oregano. Hot oils feel icy/hot to the touch. This can cause irritation on the skin, and these oils should always be avoided around the eyes. Be sure to not rub the eyes or around the eyes after applying hot oils. We always suggest diluting hot oils no matter the age.

2. Aromatic

Inhaling: Breathing in essential oils directly influences the control center of the brain, the hypothalamus. This area sends instructions through our body concerning sleep patterns, mood, behavior, appetite, and the release of certain hormones.

Diffusing: This is an excellent method for purifying the air, boosting mood, and creating a healthy atmosphere. Follow the direction accompanying your diffuser, and always watch for the water line since an over-full diffuser may malfunction!

3. Internal

Using oils internally can be of great value to you when it comes to supporting the various body systems! Adding the Vitality oils to water or NingXia Red can help support your kiddos’ immune systems, lymphatic systems and digestive systems. Adding oils is a flavorful, non-toxic way to get them to drink more water, too! Always a good thing!

POST 4

So, what is a “carrier oil”?! A carrier oil is a fatty oil that you can use to slow down how fast the body absorbs the essential oil.  We have two favorites:

+First up...Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil comes from the flesh of the coconut and can be very nourishing to the skin. If you as a mom can use coconut oil without breakouts (it has a tendency to clog pores), then feel free to use some as your carrier oil. Look for organic, unrefined.

+Next...Young Living’s V6:

This blend is super handy because it comes with a pump. You can set it next to your oils to create an “oils station” and be ready to go any moment. V6 contains coconut, sesame, grape, sweet almond, wheat germ, sunflower and olive oils.

POST 5

How to Use your Premium Starter Bundle oils for your kids!

We want you to get the most use of every single oil and every single investment you make into your bottles! So here is a great starting point for ideas on how to use each of your PSB oils!

I literally use Lavender, Lemon, and Thieves every.single.day!!! And I know that they will continue to be my most used oils! All the Starter Bundle oils truly are the perfect start when you’re using them for your kids, your family or yourself!

LAVENDER: This is a great support for sleep the night before school starts and even throughout the year! If there are butterflies for your kiddos, especially before bed, diffusing and applying to the feet is a great option!

Here are a few more:
+Roll onto feet after school for calming

+Roll onto the chest when pollen count is high and you’re battling allergens. Also diffuse.

+Use generously on the skin after touching something hot

+Use generously on bug bites

+Use generously on itchy skin

LEMON: This is a “cleansing” or “clearing” oil which can be helpful for the respiratory system but also for the emotions. Roll this one onto the feet and diffuse for nervousness.

Also:
+Use to remove gum or sticky residue

+Add to a blend with Lavender when pollen count is high and battling allergens.

+Add onto the chest and diffuse during the winter months to support the respiratory system.

PEPPERMINT: Not only does peppermint add yummy flavor to sweets and treats, but it also supports the gastrointestinal system.

Also:
+Use topically or internally for motion sickness or upset tummies

+Add to a blend with Lavender and Lemon when pollen count is high and battling allergens.

+Put on the back of the neck for a cooling sensation after playing sports (might need a carrier oil for sensitive skin).

FRANKINCENSE: This is a very “grounding” oil. Grounding oils are calming and bring down thoughts and emotions. Frank is another one that’s great for back-to-school nerves.

Also:
+Roll onto back of neck when hyper, experiencing nervousness, or tantrums

+Roll onto the feet during winter months to support immunity

+Diffuse while studying to support concentration

THIEVES: This is the oil for a big ‘ol immunity support! You can use this proactively before you start the school day.

Also:
+Roll onto feet during the winter months

+Diffuse in group settings while kids have stuffy noses.

+If you run out of Thieves Waterless Hand Sanitizer, drop a few drops of Thieves onto hands

+Drop into stinky shoes

+Diffuse in mildew-y bathrooms

PANAWAY: This is a great oil for all the pains. Those little legs have lots of growing to do! When they are experiencing growing pains, this is one to grab!! If you have football players, volleyball girls, any of the athletes are going to love using this one before and after games as well.

Also:
+Roll onto sore muscles

+Use after strenuous activity

+Roll onto growing kiddos

+Use on the back of the neck when experiencing head tension

DIGIZE: The tummy oil! If your little ones have upset tummies after an afternoon lunch at the cafeteria, this one is their friend. Roll onto the tummy or feet for any and every tummy issue!

CITRUS FRESH: This great blend offers an uplifting, refreshing aroma that you can diffuse to transform home, work, and classroom spaces.  It is also a perfect replacement for chemical-based home fragrances — just combine a few drops with distilled water in a spray bottle and spritz throughout rooms and closets and over linens, enjoying the smell every time you make the bed or open the closet.

Also:
+Diffuse to bring up the emotions after a tough day

+Help dispel some stinky-ness that often comes with kiddos 😉

RAVEN: This is the oil to support happy breathing during the winter months, or anytime really!

Also:
+Diffuse to support the respiratory system

+Rub onto the chest to support the respiratory system

VALOR: Help your kids face the day with courage when you apply this to them and let them inhale it before the school day.

Also:
+Use along the spine for overall body balance and alignment.

PEACE & CALMING: Who wouldn’t like their days and nights to be more peaceful and calming? This blend is perfect day and night – whenever you want to calm things down.

Also:
+Apply before or after school.

+Diffuse and apply to the bottoms of feet at bedtime

STRESS AWAY: Parents and kids seem to be more stressed than ever with never-ending busy schedules, changes in the world around us, and so much more. Enter Stress Away, a favorite of ours! Not only does it do exactly what the name suggests, but it also smells amazing, combining hints of lime and vanilla along with calming lavender, grounding cedarwood, and more.

Also:
+Apply to wrists and shoulders when stressed (or before entering a potentially stressful situation).

+Diffuse before and after school to help everyone transition during these busy times.

POST 6

[OPTIONAL]

What is your most used oil from your starter bundle? And why?

POST 7:

BEFORE SCHOOL ROUTINE!

Oils are not like what we are used to… you need to use them daily and be proactive with a daily routine to get the most out of them!

It’s important to understand how essential oils work -- consistency is key! Incorporating them into your daily routine will be much more effective than just using them every once and a while. Most body systems take about 3 months of consistent and specific support to rejuvenate them.

Children THRIVE with routine. Allow them to be a part of this experience. Have the oils they need ready for them in a special place. They can begin applying their morning and evening oils by themselves. Take a deep breath, and empower your children to take ownership for their health!

Organizing and labeling things will help, too! Have your oils in the areas that you need them / use them!!! For example, I keep Thieves in our kitchen... we roll it on right before we put those shoes on in the morning! Bedtime oils stay in my room close by!

Don’t be afraid to change things up, too! Most of these posts have given you multiple options for oils and products to try! Try one for a few months, and then try a new one and see if you like that one better!

Tip - Add a roller ball fitment to your Thieves, and it makes your morning foot swipe super quick and easy! You can do the same for your nighttime oils too! We love having a roller ball on our Lavender, Cedarwood and Peace & Calming!

POST 8:

Immune Support

Keeping our family well is something that I think moms benefit from the most.

We all need to be proactive with our kiddos so that we can stay ahead of the winter germs!

Enter Thieves -- Mom’s best friend. Thieves is a blend of essential oils specifically designed to support the body's immune system health. This blend is great to have in our tool kit and use AHEAD of time!

Oils are different then what we are used to…. we need to be using them DAILY. Make this a priority to add into your daily routine, it’s worth it!!

+Roll onto bottom of the feet daily

+Diffuse after school

+Diffuse during the winter when germs hit

POST 9:

Teachers

Teachers are SO important and sometimes overlooked… Let’s show the teachers some LOVE! There are SO many amazing options for our amazing teachers that pour so much into our kiddos all year long, day after day.

For your child’s teacher:
Young Living offers roll-on blends that you can purchase and apply topically or even wear as perfume. Stress Away is one of our favorites because it’s like a vacation in a bottle! You can also make DIY roll-on blends to gift him/her to apply throughout the day. Using oils like Joy, Stress Away, or Lavender are all great relaxing oils to use in DIY roll-ons.

Another fun option is to gift your child’s teacher a diffuser and oils.  I LOVEEEEE giving my kiddos teacher a favorite oil + a diffuser!

If YOU are a teacher:
First of all, thank you for all the hard work you do to teach these young minds! Your service does not go unnoticed!
- Do you need an energy & brain boost in the middle of the day??  Keep a box of Ningxia NITRO in your desk drawer, and drink one at lunch or during recess. So good!
- Cleaning your classroom: Check out the Thieves cleaning line! Hand Sanitizer with a pump, Thieves Wipes and Hand Sanitizing Wipes, Foaming Hand Soap, and even the Household Cleaner. These are all safe options to have around kids and are super effective to get the sanitizing job done!
- Do your feet hurt at the end of the day? Lemon or PanAway are great to soothe those sore feet!

At Christmas I gave each teacher a diffuser + an oil, on teacher appreciation a Stress-Away Roll-on and a Lip Gloss.

For a fun little surprise, give your kiddo’s teacher a pack of the Bath Bombs + a Tranquil Roll-on.

Your little’s teachers can have their own little spa day at home with some oily love! The perfect way to say THANK YOU!!!

POST 10:

Carpool Line

We have all been there. Sitting in carpool line and tired littles hop in the car after a long day. Here are a few ideas for you as you navigate carpool daily!

+ How about a roller for you, mama? Have your Tranquil roller in the car and roll on your wrists as you sit and wait. Carpool, snack, homework, dinner, bedtime is always a RACE afterschool, so taking a second to reset will be so important for you before the craziness begins!

+ Grab a few cotton balls, and put a few drops of your little ones’ favorite oil on them! Then, stick them in your air vents before you get driving!

+ Have a bottle of cold water and a lovie ready in the car seat. I like to put a few drops of Peace & Calming on the lovie so they can smell/snuggle it when they hop in the car.

+ I have a roller with 10 drops Joy + 10 drops Valor (the rest with V6 carrier oil) all ready to go and hand it back as we pull away. My kiddos roll on their wrists and take a second to smell it. It’s incredibly grounding.

+ JOY - The number one favorite for focusing on truly releasing sadness and feeling again the little moments all through our days that are what make us alive and full of purpose.

+ VALOR is a blend that is close to the heart of Gary and YL. The integrity of this valuable blend will always be of highest priority. This is our bravery oil. Our courage oil. Our fortitude oil. Use it to greet each morning with a positive attitude, and to refocus at the end of a challenging day.

POST 11

(pictured: Raven, Thieves, Lemon, Frankincense, Breathe Again)

+Wellness is a nice piggyback to Immune System Support. Because there are times, no matter how hard we try to keep our kiddies and ourselves away from the germs… that we catch something!

Young Living's essential oils and essential oil infused products and supplements work side by side with our bodies and support our body systems at the cellular level!

Try out this amazing lineup for supporting your bodies this winter!

…and remember THIEVES DAILY! We must be using these oils daily and not just try to THROW them at something once we already have a problem creep up!

POST 12:

Before School Butterflies

Feeling nervous can be the foundation for lots of emotional and behavioral issues. Our children (and adults too!) can struggle with lots of anxious feelings because of the changes in routine, the anticipation of events, etc. Those anxious feelings can wreak havoc on their bodies, including their digestive system (nerves) and their emotions and capabilities to handle and process some of those basic things in life that typically aren't difficult. Essential oils provide support to our emotions and offer a calming effect as they are inhaled and/or applied! So, get those diffusers going :) Let’s help our families embrace this year with CONFIDENCE!

As with anything, using essential oils to support our kiddos emotional health doesn't happen with one application. It's not a one and done thing; there's no quick fix.

We encourage you to slow down, take the time to really focus on this child, create a safe environment and work through this WITH them. Diffusing these oils would be a wonderful option, because of the powerful sense of smell and how it can support your body mentally and emotionally. Applying these oils would also be a wonderful way to support your child's ability to feel a sense of calmness. Use this opportunity to massage your child as you are applying these oils. Speak truth to them, reassuring them of their security. Today, we are BUSIER than we have ever been. Technology's conveniences are speeding everything up - including the amount of expectations and demands of our children. S-L-O-W down. Be still with your children and teach them the art of relaxation.

ENTER the Butterfly Blend! If your kiddo has a hard time gearing up for the change and newness of their school year and getting back into the swing of things, then this blend is a great one for that emotional support!

+Roll onto chest, feet and wrists when experiencing nervous feelings

+Pack in their backpack, and teach them how to apply when feeling nervous.

+Diffuse this blend at night and after school

BUTTERFLY BLEND:
(use 10 drops of each oil)

+ Lavender – This oil is going to become your Swiss army knife as you prepare for your child to go back to school! Known for its calming properties, it is safe for littles and perfect to diffuse or apply topically to promote peace during tense situations.

+ Valor – This blend may help with feelings of empowerment and self-esteem. Perfect for nervous little ones (and for you as you send your child to school!), this blend is sure to become a favorite.

+ Joy - The number one favorite for focusing on truly releasing sadness and feeling again the little moments all through our days that are what make us alive and full of purpose.

+ Stress Away - This blend helps to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for both child and mama during this season of life, Stress Away may help with feelings of nervousness and can be beneficial in working through stressful times.

+ Patchouli – this oil has a calming, relaxing scent when used aromatically. Use this one to create peaceful feelings in your little ones!

+ Vetiver – this oil has a distinct earthy and grounding scent to it. Use this oil to help your child focus and stay calm during tense times!

POST 13

Focus Support. It's homework time!

Whether you’re educating your children at home or sending them off to school in the mornings or a combination of both - helping them to stay focused is important!

So many children associate school, and specifically "homework," with an immediate feeling of overwhelm. We want them to retain what they're learning and enjoy the education process! Let's talk about the environment your child is doing their school work or homework in! What sorts of calming things might we want to foster?

How about a clear and organized workspace, minimal distractions and noise, no distracting technology, essential oils going in the diffuser and applied on them, a glass of water, nutrition to fuel their minds, and also - don't forget to allow them to take breaks - with fresh air!

FOCUS BLEND

This blend is great for the kiddos who have a hard time focusing in class. It’s also one to grab when any of the kids are working on homework and needing to calm down and get things done! We use a lot of brain support oils, and this has become a favorite!

+Roll onto the back of the neck while working.

+Diffuse while studying.

+Pack in their backpack, and teach them how to roll it on before test taking.

Focus Blend in a Roller:
(Use 10 drops of each oil)

+ Brain Power – this blend contains oils such as Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood and Frankincense, which are very high in sesquiterpenes. Higher levels of sesquiterpenes enable our DNA cells to receive more oxygen, which promotes clarity and focus. This means that your child will be receiving internal support in his or her brain as they are completing their homework or while focusing in school!

+ Vetiver – this oil has a distinct earthy and grounding scent to it. Use this oil to help your child focus and stay calm during tense times!

+ Cedarwood – an amazing oil for your lineup! GREAT for before school, your nighttime (bedtime) routine, or in your focus support roller. There are so many powerful testimonies tied to this combination of oils!

+GeneYus – this blend is perfectly diluted and ready to go for your child! Similar in sesquiterpenes levels to Brain Power, it is formulated to help your child focus and concentrate on their task at hand! Put a roller attachment on this one, and roll onto your child before the school day begins, or even put it in their backpack so that they can use it throughout the day! If your child has a nut allergy, you should not use this blend.

Apply these oils below to the back of their necks, top of their heads, and their big toes.

Allow your child to inhale these oils from the bottle or out of the diffuser.

Remember that consistency is key with the use of essential oils.

Many people try to be consistent with a routine for 3-4 months to really see a difference.

POST 14:

KIDSCENTS line!!

I have loooooved using the KidScents line for my kiddos. Every mama doesn’t have to worry about what is going onto that sweet, sensitive skin and being absorbed into that little body! Safe nontoxic Shampoo, Lotion, Body Wash. So much good!
We have used every single one of these KidScents Oils. These bottles are super convenient; you can just pop on a YL roller top, and the kids can do the rest. 😊 Everyone loves these! Read through each one to see how to use it and when!

POST 15

Kid’s Vitamins…. what to be aware of!!

We have covered this before in adult multivitamins, but I wanted to share with you all some very common ingredients that are found in the top sellers of children's multivitamins. It’s frustrating when you’re buying something that you think it helping your child only to find out that it can actually be harming them a considerable amount over time. So let’s talk about a few things….. (These are excerpts from an article previously available on the Collective Evolution website.)

Aspartame:
Aspartame is known to damage the brain at any dose by leaving traces of Methanol in the blood. It makes you wonder why Aspartame has been approved as “safe” and is found in thousands of food products; not to mention children’s vitamins. It’s also linked to Lymphoma and Leukemia. It’s basically a synthetic combination of the amino acids aspartic acid and I-phenylalanine. It’s known to convert into toxic methanol and formaldehyde in the body. Hopefully this motivates you to further your research.

Sorbitol:
Sorbitol is a synthetic sugar substitute which is classified as a sugar alcohol. The ingestion of higher amounts has been linked to gastrointestinal disturbances from abdominal pain to more serious conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome.

Hydrogenated Soybean Oil:
Anything marketed to children that contains hydrogenated soybean oil is irresponsible. They are semi-synthetic fatty acids that incorporate themselves into our tissues. They’ve been linked to dozens of harmful health effects, from coronary artery disease to cancer and fatty liver disease.

Ferrous Fumarate:
This is quite remarkable that Ferrous Fumarate is an ingredient here. There is a clear warning on the Flintstone’s web site concerning this chemical. It’s used as an iron supplement. When consuming iron that comes naturally in food, it’s impossible to inject toxic amounts that can cause death. But when taking Ferrous Fumarate, fatal levels of toxicity can be reached.

Say HELLO to KIDSCENTS Multivitamins!!

I’m so super glad they have this option for us mamas! After reading article after article in the last few years about what is in vitamins, how they don’t work, how toxins from them can be stored in the body and on and on and on...I was so glad that YL had something for us!

If your little one has ANY digestive issues at all, I highly suggest starting them out on the MightyZymes! Enzymes are so crucial to the digestive process and can help in many ways with little tummies!

Read through the information in the picture for more on MightyVites and MightyZymes!

POST 16:

Lunch Line

THIEVES WATERLESS HAND SANITIZER

Super small, perfect for backpacks! It’s nontoxic, and having it around little ones means a worry-free mama! I don’t know if you have read any warnings on the common household hand sanitizer, but it can be extremely dangerous if little ones get their hands on it and ingest. THIS is why I keep the Thieves Waterless Hand Sanitizer around instead!

Convenient, portable, and long lasting, Thieves Waterless Hand Sanitizer is enhanced with natural Peppermint oil to cleanse and purify hands.

Also contains:

+Peppermint

+Clove

+Lemon

+Rosemary

+Cinnamon

POST 17:

THIEVES SPRAY

Portable sanitizing option for hard surfaces like desks, doorknobs, cafeteria table, and other areas that germs might collect.

Consider spraying items like backpacks, shoes, jackets, etc. when kids get home from school. Don’t forget to use it on the shopping cart when you’re doing your back-to-school shopping and grocery shopping, too.

POST 18:

NINGXIA RED

This is great to add into the kid’s routine in the morning, ESPECIALLY because our diets are lacking in so many nutrients!! One of the BEST ways we can support our children is nutritionally. I don’t know about you guys, but so many kids don’t eat near enough veggies and probably too much sugar! We use this to help fill in the nutritional gaps we may have!

NingXia Red is an amazing way to support their nutrition and immune system because the NingXia Wolfberry is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. NingXia Red is a POWERFUL antioxidant drink! It fortifies the body and replenishes key nutrients. NingXia Red contains whole berries - the juice, peels, seeds and fruit - delivering vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and phytonutrients.

You can give them at least 1-2 oz a day! It’s truly powerful!

A few fun facts:

+Fantastic taste with no "junk-juice" (e.g., apple, white grape, pear, etc.) or added sugar.

+Contains a great whole-food source of protein, fiber, minerals and vitamins.

+Contains premium quality essential oils of yuzu, lemon, tangerine and orange.

+Contains natural antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body against free radicals. Free radicals are essentially rust in the body. The more antioxidants we ingest, the better!

+Natural form of energy without sugar, caffeine or other artificial stimulants.

POST 19:

A GOOD NIGHT’S REST

Sweet, sweet sleep. This is a necessity for being healthy and for thriving in the school year. Sleep gives your body a chance to rest, a chance to heal itself, a chance to renew your mind. A good night’s sleep makes a world of a difference for both kids and adults. As parents, we tend to be lacking in the sleep department, but there are absolutely some things we can do to promote restful sleep for our whole family!

DIY Pillow Spray:

  • Pinch of Epsom Salt (salt helps to disperse the oil)

  • 2-4 oz water

  • 4-8 drops Lavender

Mix together in a glass spray bottle. Spray on your pillow/linens before bed.

Sleepy Oil Blend:

  • 1 cup carrier oil (coconut oil, V6 from YL, grapeseed, etc) or YL Lavender Lotion

  • 5 drops Lavender

  • 5 drop Cedarwood

You can mix this together and keep it in a glass jar to use at bedtime. To mix as needed, just add 1 drop of each essential oil into the palm of your hand to apply during your bedtime routine. You can even fill up a roller bottle for easy application!

Diffuser Ideas: 5-10 drops total usually

  • Peace & Calming

  • Lavender & Cedarwood (3 drops each)

  • Stress Away

  • Valor or Valor 2

  • White Angelica & Orange

For us adults:
There are 2 supplements that can really help promote restful sleep for adults. ImmuPro is a supplement that not only helps to support your immune system but also has a little bit of melatonin in it. Melatonin is the hormone that your body creates naturally to help regulate sleep and wake cycles. SleepEssence is the more ‘hard core’ option to try out if you are really wanting to support your sleep schedule. Either is a great, natural option!

Singles: Lavender, Cedarwood, Roman Chamomile

Blends: Peace & Calming, Valor/Valor 2, Stress Away, Tranquil Roll-on, RutaVaLa Roll-on
